PE at All Saints Church School
At All Saints Church School, our vision is to inspire every child to develop a passion for Physical Education and Sport. We aim to embed a PE curriculum and ethos throughout the school that promotes collaboration, self-development, wellbeing and fitness. Our overarching goal is for all children to enjoy a wide range of sports and physical activities that they will continue into adult life.
We strive to provide an education that enables children to make informed choices about physical activity and develop positive attitudes towards hygiene, fitness and health, regardless of ability.
How do we teach PE at All Saints?
Our approach to teaching PE reflects our vision and is underpinned by high-quality, research-informed practice. We use the Primary PE Planning curriculum to ensure learning is carefully sequenced, builds on prior knowledge and supports long-term understanding.
We teach a wide variety of sports to give every child the opportunity to discover activities they enjoy, develop a broad range of physical skills and build confidence in their abilities. A diverse PE curriculum helps children understand the importance of being active, healthy and resilient, while developing teamwork, communication, leadership and respect.
We teach sporting vocabulary explicitly and revisit key terminology regularly to deepen understanding.
EYFS
The Early Years Foundation Stage is the starting point for developing pupils’ gross and fine motor skills. Children begin by building confidence and control in the transferable skills needed to become successful in future physical activities and sports. Lessons are challenging, engaging, imaginative and, most importantly, fun.
Our PE roadmap clearly outlines the progression of key themes and shows how skills and knowledge build as children move through the school.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities
To enhance the PE curriculum and provide additional opportunities, we offer a range of extracurricular sports clubs, including (but not limited to) multi-sports, netball, football, tennis, dance, T1 rugby and athletics.
We pride ourselves on making competition accessible to all. As part of our local area, we offer regular inter and intra-school sporting fixtures that are open to all children.
We have been awarded the Gold School Games Mark in recognition of our supportive and inclusive practice.
Special Events and Visitors
As part of our PE provision, we regularly welcome visitors from a range of sporting backgrounds to broaden children’s experiences and introduce them to new activities. These specialist sessions provide exciting opportunities for children to develop new skills, build confidence and explore different disciplines.
