Christian Distinctiveness

Jesus says, “All things are possible, if you believe.” Mark 9:23

By working together, we can grow to be the very best version of ourselves here at All Saints Church School. By nurturing confidence, curiosity and a joy of learning, we believe that every child and adult can flourish.

When we work together in faith and purpose, all things will be possible if we believe.

Church and Clergy Involvement

At All Saints Church School, our relationships with the church and clergy play a vital role in living out our Christian Vision that “All things are possible if you believe.” Rooted in the example of the Good Shepherd, these partnerships strengthen our shared commitment to nurturing every child’s potential through worship, community and spiritual growth. The involvement of our church family helps us create worship that reflects our core values, deepens pupils’ understanding of faith in action and supports the flourishing of the whole school community.

Collective Worship

Collective Worship at All Saints Church School is an important part of our day. As a Church school, our time together as a school community is invaluable when sharing and understanding the views and traditions of the Church. Our Christian Vision and Values are embedded throughout all worship. Each half-term we focus on a value, giving time for thoughtful reflection.

Each act of worship is slightly different, and children can expect to sing, listen to stories, act out stories, listen to musicians and enjoy an interactive period of learning and reflection. Collective Worship is led by a variety of people here at All Saints Church School.

Visiting Worship Leaders

Reverend Nick, from St Catherine’s Church, regularly leads whole school worship, as do all of our teachers. Pupils are offered the opportunity to plan and lead class worship using our half‑termly Christian value as their guide. On a Friday we hold a ‘Praise and Share’ Collective Worship, where we invite parents to join us.

                            Reverend Nick                                                         Daniel England

We are also extremely fortunate to have Daniel England visit our school monthly. He is a visiting Pastor from Vine Youth Ministry. Daniel’s ‘Mini Mix’ Collective Worships are lively and enjoyable; his guitar playing inspires us all to join in. Daniel’s inspirational storytelling helps our children to gain an even greater understanding of fundamental Christian values.

Open the Book

Open the Book also visit our school each week to lead collective worship. They provide children with a visual opportunity to hear key Bible stories, told by a team of Christians from our local Churches. Each drama presentation connects with the imagination of our children and takes around 10–15 minutes. It is a three-year rolling programme with an additional, along with the option of an additional year of materials based on Christian values for schools.

Community Links

All Saints Church School enjoys strong and longstanding links with the four churches in our Benefice, helping to deepen our Christian Vision and strengthen our sense of community. These partnerships support our worship life, our shared values and our connection to the local church family.

How Our Christian Vision Shapes School Life

At All Saints Church School, our Christian Vision sits at the heart of everything we do and shapes the way we live, learn and grow as a community. Rooted in Jesus’ teaching and guided by the promise that “All things are possible if you believe,” our Vision inspires us to nurture the unique, gift of every child and adult. It influences our relationships, our choices and the way we care for one another, ensuring that kindness, respect, compassion and responsibility form the foundations of daily school life. In following the example of the Good Shepherd, we seek to create an environment in which everyone feels known, valued and supported to flourish morally, socially, spiritually and academically.

Our curriculum, worship and pastoral care are all shaped by this Vision and by the values that flow from it. Learning is designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, resilience and wisdom, helping pupils to understand their place in the wider world and how their actions can make a positive difference. Daily Collective Worship deepens pupils’ understanding of faith in action, connecting biblical teaching with real life experiences and strengthening our shared sense of hope, purpose and community. Through these lived experiences, our Christian Vision continues to guide us as we work together to become the very best version of All Saints Church School, believing that, through God’s love, “all things are possible.”

Religious Education - All Saints Church School

At All Saints Church School, Religious Education (RE) is taught as a carefully planned and progressive subject that reflects our Christian Vision and supports pupils in developing a deep understanding of Christianity, alongside a respectful awareness of other faiths and world views. Our long and medium term plans ensure that learning builds securely over time, allowing pupils to revisit, embed and extend key theological concepts, biblical knowledge and spiritual reflection as they move through the school. Each unit is chosen and structured to support pupils in exploring big questions, developing curiosity, and making meaningful connections between faith, life and the wider world.

Through this structured approach, RE remains fully integrated into the broader ethos of the school, supporting pupils’ moral, social and spiritual development. Our curriculum draws on high quality resources and follows a clear sequence that encourages pupils to think deeply, reflect personally and engage with the Christian narrative that underpins our school community. This ensures that RE at All Saints Church School is both academically well structured and spiritually enriching, helping every child to grow in wisdom, understanding and appreciation of diverse beliefs. In addition, pupils experience further spiritual development through Godly Play sessions and floor books, which both offer reflective opportunities to explore faith, wonder and biblical stories in a thoughtful and child centred way.

Please follow the link All Saints Church School - RE to learn more about how Religious Education is taught at All Saints Church School, and how our Christian Vision shapes the principles and practice of our RE curriculum.

Pupil Involvement at All Saints Church School

Pupil involvement is an important aspect of our Christian distinctiveness. Through a range of leadership roles across the school, including:

  • School Council
  • House Captains
  • Dandelions (Children with a parent(s) in the Forces)
  • Art Ambassadors
  • Eco‑Warriors
  • Librarians
  • Music Ambassadors

Pupils contribute meaningfully to school life and support the values that underpin our Christian Vision. These responsibilities promote service, responsibility and active participation within our school community. They also demonstrate the structured opportunities pupils have to develop leadership, confidence and a strong sense of responsibility within the wider school community.

As one pupil leader explained, “Being a leader helps me show our school values every day and support others to do the same.”

Shared Language of Spirituality

At All Saints Church School, the whole school community shares a clear and consistent understanding of spirituality, rooted in our Christian Vision. Pupils are encouraged to notice, reflect and respond to the world around them through experiences that inspire a sense of wonder, curiosity and personal thought. This includes quiet reflection in Collective Worship, the use of classroom reflection areas and moments of stillness such as observing wildlife or pausing during outdoor learning. These shared practices help pupils express their thoughts, feelings and beliefs with confidence, supporting their spiritual growth across school life.

Key Spirituality Findings from the SIAMS Report (2024)

“The whole school community shares an understanding of spirituality.” We are pleased that this reflects the consistent and shared approach to spirituality across All Saints Church School.

“Spiritual development is successfully encouraged across the school. Opportunities for individuals to reflect and consider their own feelings and beliefs abound.” We are proud this represents the rich range of reflective and meaningful opportunities pupils experience throughout daily school life.

Extra Curricular Provision for All Children

The SIAMS report recognises that All Saints Church School provides a rich range of extra curricular opportunities that enable every pupil to participate and flourish. Inspectors note that pupils experience “opportunities and experiences which enrich their lives at school,” and that the school ensures “obstacles to participation, whether financial, physical or emotional, are overcome.”

Our extensive grounds and outdoor spaces further enhance these opportunities, offering activities such as Forest School, sport, painting, reading and autumn walks, all of which help pupils to appreciate God’s creation and support their personal development.

The report also highlights the breadth of extra curricular activities available to pupils, including choir, cross country running and drawing, alongside wrap around care that supports families at the beginning and end of the day. These opportunities strengthen wellbeing, belonging and enjoyment across the school community.
